Purple Delight – Maca Smoothie

Smoothie’s are a BIG part of my daily diet! To me a smoothie is the perfect way to start the day! I often don’t feel like something you have to ‘chew’ on but instead I prefer a drinkable breakfast. You can add almost everything you like to a smoothie, but sometimes it’s a surprise wether the taste is good or not 😉

Superfoods?
Chlorella, chiaseeds, raw cacao, gojiberries and maca are examples of what people call ‘superfoods’. It’s a term you hear quite often nowadays and the opinions about it are divided. Some praise the beneficial effects of the so-called Superfoods while others State that there is no such thing as Superfoods.
I think the thruth is somewhere in the middle; to me Superfoods are products high in nutritional value that contain lots of beneficial vitamins and minerals. They’re not miracle products for eternal youth or spectacular weightloss. I think they can be a good addition to a smoothie to increase it’s nutritional value. In my opinion Superfoods should be used in that way; moderately, as a supplement in a varied and healthy diet and not as the miracle product some people claim it to be!

Here’s my smoothie recipe with maca powder!
Maca is high in vitamins B1, B2, C and E and the following minerals: calcium, calium, magnesium, iron and jodium. It contains lots of fibers and protein.
