Lately I’m totally into the green smoothies for breakfast. I toss some ingredients in my blender, blitz it all up and just drink it! (Or I have it on-the-go while driving to school when I’m in a hurry in the morning…) A green smoothie is a perfect way to start the day with a bunch of vegetables and fruits. In this smoothie I added some fats (almond butter) which ‘temper’ the effects of the sugars from the fruits in the smoothie and keeps your bloodsugar more stable.
Some smoothies don’t taste as good as I had expected them to taste, but once in a while you have an absolute WINNER. This one definately is a winner!!
Green Almond Smoothie
- 2 handsful of fresh spinach (I used about 75 grams!)
- 200 ml (unsweetened) almond milk
- handful of fresh red grapes (I prefer seedless grapes because when mixed the seeds can fall apart in small, sharp and bitter bits, not so nice..)
- 1 ripe banana
- 1-2 tbsp of almond butter
Put the spinach and the almond milk in a blender and mix it until smooth. Add the grapes and mix again. At last add the banana and the almond butter and mix one last time until smooth. I desired you can add some water to make it more ‘drinkable’, or just spoon it up!
ps. Don’t you just love my purple nails?!
