REVIEW – It’s All Good by Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrows’ “It’s All Good” is probably the biggest cookbook in my collection, and the one with the longest title as well (full title is: It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great). The book counts 303 pages with approximately 150 recipes and it’s a great addition to your collection of cookbooks!

The Author. I think you probably know Gwyneth as an actres, but It’s All Good is actually her second cookbook. In 2011 she published “My Father’s Daughter” and “It’s All Good” followed in 2013. Gwyneth opens the book by telling about a moment in 2011 she suddenly felt ill and for a moment she thought she had a stroke. She suffered from a severe headache, felt dizzy and had trouble breathing. After this incident she consulted a doctor and finally she came in tough with a doctor who practices an holistic approach towards food and lifestyle. Gwyneth made drastic changes to her daily diet and felt the urge to share her recipes with the rest of the world, resulting in “It’s All Good”.

The Book. It’s All Good counts is published as a hardcover and counts 303 pages. It’s big, it’s thick and it looks really solid. The book is organized by categories such as Breakfast, Salads, Soups, Poultry, Fish, Sweets, etcetera. Pages look clear and each recipe is accompanied by symbols to indicate wether a recipe is vegan, proteinrich or fits in an elimination diet. The book is nicely illustrated with pretty pictures of the recipes and some personal pictures of Gwyneth and co-writer Julia as well. At the end of the book you can find some examples for weekmenu’s such as “Body-builder week”, “Detox week” and “a family week”.

The Recipes. Every recipe in the book is refined sugar-free and almost all reipces are glutenfree and dairyfree (except for a few recipes with goats- or sheep-dairy products). No Butter, cheese or cream! Recipes are based on pure and natural ingredients and most of the recipes are easy to prepare. Gwyneth shares quite some original recipes for dressings, which I really like! Creamy parsley dressing, Yoghurt-Tahin dressing, Carrot-Ginger dressing, Mexican Green Goddes-dressing… Each and everyone sounds so delicious!

The recipes require mostely common products you can find in any supermarket, occasionally you might have to pay the natural foods store a visit for some ingredients.
